To my mom, and Dad, and Ducy and Cookie, because of you guys I am definitely ready to teach!!! Thank you so much for the packages you sent to me during PST. Getting a package here means so much more than it did in College. Here a package can change your whole mood and give you enough encouragement and hopefully enough good American food to last you a very long time!!! Thank you thank you, thank you! To those of you who wish to send stuff out to me once I am sworn in as a Peace Corps Volunteer, next Thursday! I will much appreciate good American snack foods, gum and candy, or the basics of hygiene, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, and all the sorts like that! I know that you are all praying for me and it is much appreciated and needed! Please continue to pray for health, safety, and the strength to press on every day! It is going to be a sad day next Wednesday when I say goodbye to my first home here in Moldova. My host family has been wonderful and I have made so many relationships with the kids and other Americans in my village. I will try to be better at this posting info thing and as soon as I can I will try to post some pictures of my wild adventures out here! I love you all, and I hope your summer was a little less stressful than mine!!!
Hello friends and family!!! I cant believe it, next week Thursday I will be sworn in as a Peace Corps Volunteer!!! It has gone by so fast and has been so much fun! Of course I miss you all like crazy and Taco Bell, and Me n Eds and all the other good stuff we shared! I leave AUGUST 16 for my future site, and I am really excited to get there and get started teaching and working in the community. I am very sad to leave my village I am in now, but I will get to visit again soon! I do have a cell phone now so if you know Jannette, Tobreah, or my mom or dad they have it I dont want to put it on this page! Sorry! But please call or write the encouragement is definitely appreciated I do not have a lot of Christian support around me but I know I have it in the USA! I am staying healthy and encouraged and so happy that PST will be over in now only days!!! Eu sint fericita! ( I am happy, in romanian!) I can speak another language, yeah!!!! Love you all!! I will write again soon!!!
Only 2 more working days left! I am so excited to leave for Germany, Austria and Switzerland but have so much to do before I go. I guess that is what makes vacation that much more exciting! The washing machine broke, the dog is limping and of course work has picked up to an unbelievable pace. Three weeks off is a dream come true! I am so excited for my trip and to be able to see the place where my Grandmother and my father were born.
I am also getting ready for the Police concert this weekend. I am traveling to Louisville on Saturday with my friends to experience the Police live! I cannot wait! Should be an adventure! We leave early Saturday and come back late Sunday.
Anyways, another long day of langauge classes and feeling like my brain is going to explode! The weather wasa getting a little cooler here, but then goes straight back to hot! I am having a great time and have spent most my nights playing hide and go seek with the kids in my village at night, there are no street lights here and none of the roads are paved so you can imagime it is pretty scary and hard to run at night! But I have managed not to sprain any ankles yet! I really do love Moldova and the people. But anyways, I couldnt get into my aol from this internet at home and it is dial up so it is really slow to do anything, but I wanted to ask whoever would like to help with our childrens day coming up in July, I know I asked for some things before but those are not necessarily things I need now, and if you read this dad you can use some of my money to get these things for Childrens Day! To give you a little info it will be a day we put on for the kids and I think we are going to do a carnival, so I really need ASAP:
So I am surviving in Moldova and I am loving it. My host family is wonderful and the people here are great!!! I wanted to let you guys know if you have the heart to help the people of Moldova and in so helping me there are a few things I need and can really use and if you know people or organizations to donate other items like health products please let me know!!!!
Here it is:
colored paper
markers
chalk
colored pencils
sports equipment (balls, etc..they have nothing!)
stickers
health related items: deodarant, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss(it is so expensive here for them), and anything else for hygiene!!!
I miss you guys so much and I am doing great, but it is a lot of work it is not easy at all!!!
Love you guys,
Brittney
P.S. please help out! My address is down below on another blog!
I cant believe that I am here! I am so tired and | dont think I will be getting any good sleep for a while! Anyways, the flights were good about a days worth of flying so I didnt even get a whole day for my birthday! Well, we all arrived yesterday a little sweaty, greasy and stinky! I am having a lot of fun so far. The country is very beautiful and so are the people. We are staying in a hotel right now for a couple more days and then we go meet our first host family on Saturday. I found out I am going to have a really nice mother and father, and 2 brothers! I am a little overwhelmed and I know that I have so much more ahead, today we already had language classes!!!! I love Romanian though!!! So yeah, I am alive and well just tired, and already I can tell I am not going to want to leave this place! Sorry guys if I never come back! JK But really it is so fascinating here, the people their customs, I love the tradition and heritage! We Americans do not have anything but cleaner toilets and maybe a wider variety of food. This is going to be great but challenging adventure ahead but I know I can do it!!!! If you havent lived in another country do it! I love it here...so far!!!!! Keep me in your prayers about training these next couple months it is going to be intense we need to know a lot! I love you all and hope to update you soon!! Oh, and by the way I love my fellow volunteers out here they are amazing!!!
So I leave tomorrow for Moldova and going to have the longest travel day of my life! And I am also turning 23! And for most of my bday I will be flying in the air! Staging was awesome, Philly was a great experience and I am so excited to start my adventure tomorrow with some pretty amazing people! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Please pray for traveling mercies and just an all together great day tomorrow! I am going to miss you all, but oh wow, I am excited!!!!
So I left the OC today, and when I said goodbye to my little baby girl Morgan I cried from Tustin to Fresno, and that is not exaggerating! I can not believe how much love I have for that little girl who will not remember me at all! When I said goodbye to Michael I saw the tears in his eyes and of course I cried after that as well. I am going to miss those kids and their parents so much. I feel like I left a piece of my heart with those kids and I know I will see them again someday, but oh my it was hard to say goodbye! I cant wait for my adventure to begin and to get past all these horrible goodbyes!
I can not believe I have only days left and the word of the hour is overwhelmed!!!!! I am leaving the OC on Tuesday and heading to the "NO" for some good times with friends and family and then June 2nd I fly to Philadelphia for Orientation. Then on my birthday I will be flying to Turkey and then to Moldova. I am so excited I just want to get past the goodbyes!!! I am freaking out a little about packing and filled with every possible emotion you could have! I want to say thank you to you all and you know who you are! I love you all so much and I know I will be missing the goodimes we all used to have! Dont have too much fun while I am gone and dont miss me too much I will be ok and having the time of my life!!!! Moldova or Bust!!!!
